GORE-TEX® Fabric
GORE-TEX fabrics are created by laminating a GORE-TEX membrane to high-performance textiles, then sealing them with an innovative solution for guaranteed waterproof protection.
As well as being waterproof the fabric is also windprood and breathable.
The microporous structure of the GORE-TEX membrane is what makes GORE-TEX fabrics durably waterproof. Each microscopic pore is about 20,000 times smaller than a drop of water, which means that external moisture - from rain to snow to that puddle you just stepped in - can't penetrate the membrane.

Shivering? It could be the windchill effect. This occurs when cold air penetrates your clothing, negatively affecting heat from your body's sensitive microclimate. To keep you comfortable and protected even in harsh conditions, the GORE-TEX membrane has been engineered to be durably windproof. Your product breathes, but wind stays out.
A quarter of a cup at rest. 1 litre during heavy exertion. Nearly 4 litres during a world-class marathon. That's how much perspiration our bodies can release in an hour in the form of water vapour.
To prevent the discomfort caused by overheating or wet conductive heat loss, perspiration must evaporate so that it doesn't stay trapped inside your clothes, footwear or gloves. What makes GORE-TEX products so breathable? The pores in the GORE-TEX membrane are 700 times BIGGER than a water vapour molecule. Since water vapour can easily pass through the membrane, you remain comfortable and dry.

Material Research
I started by looking on WGSN to see what materials are up and coming and which we could possibly use for the luggage. On the A/W 12/13 materials forecast I found a rehab trend in materials which is a new economical and ecological approach to material use. Within this the part that stood out was the domestic materials such as plastics and rubber that have been interwoven together to create something new.
As I looked further into this trend, I found the main article of the trend:
'Harnessing the principle of using that which is at hand, Rehab reflects economic thrift and an awareness of sustainability, by reusing and re-appropriating materials and existing products. Playful mixes of the natural and the synthetic are cut, pasted and rehashed into rich conclusions making an eclectic aesthetic. A resurgence in DIY, found materials and colour create unexpected textural mixes and an overriding sense of optimism.'
As opposed to using materials within this trend I think the concept of it is more important, as we need to fit this in with appropriate material for extreme sporting activities.
However as mentioned above by mixing rubber and plastics together i think it would give both strength and flexibility with in the bag itself, which is quite an important need for an extreme sports bag.

Ogio
Top gear bag designer OGIO still thrives on the substance that spurred its existence…vision. Michael Pratt fostered the prodigy that is OGIO, and with intuition and a little financial reinforcement spawned the young company’s venture into gear bag design. With an innovative line of duffels and packs loaded with excess features, OGIO dished out the inner extreme everyone craved. With this driving appetite, OGIO reinvented golf with a fresh contemporary line and a pimped out “golf cart”, more widely known as the BRV (battle-ready vehicle). OGIO spurred new age golf, and recognized the vast potential of their entity. Sharing a synonymous intense direction with action sports, OGIO’s eminence emerged from the get-go with the production of the hit motocross film “Global Addiction”. With a die-hard crew and collective insight, OGIO gathered top athletes from across the nation from moto, BMX, skate, snow, and surf to produce Team OGIO. Together OGIO designers and athletes unite to create specific action sports packs. This cutting-edge company has single handedly revolutionized bag design and there is more where that came from.
I think the shape of this bad is really different and something that could be used to play on.
Also this bag is really unique in the way that it is almost a body warmer type of body wear, but you can see how it would work in tacking up hardly any space and not seeming like you are carrying a bag.

''Barbecue anywhere you want with the Element Portable Grill by Fuego. Slung over your shoulder like a messenger bag, this transportable grill lets you literally cook on-the-go.
Brought to you by Fuego, this Californian company brings sleek contemporary style to outdoor grills. It’s very handy and efficient. With just a push of a button, the legs fold down and lock into cooking position. An adjustable canvas strap lets you fling it over your shoulder for easy carrying, and you’re ready to hit the road. It may look small, but the grill has an 8000 btu/hr stainless steel burner that heats up at 350-650° F.''
When luggage stats to cater towards summer fun you know its something people will jump over, the clever Element portable Grill gives the appearance of looking like a highend designer-artsy-indie style peice of hand luggage which folds out to give the wearer a gorgeous mini BBQ. Secluded Luggage
''The BRUDAcase is an iPad case that offers protection and privacy in a sweet wooden package. Available in either cherry or maple, the BRUDAcase will keep your new iPad dent-free.''
''The features of the BRUDAcase include notches on the lid to provide you with two angle options, one ideal for typing and the other for viewing. The BRUDAcase is also designed so that nothing is touching the screen: the iPad is held in place on the frame surrounding the screen.
If you wanted a little privacy while using your iPad, the BRUDAcase has you covered as well, literally! When the BRUDAcase is in the typing position, glare is reduced for you and the screen is hidden from surrounding people'
I feel that luggage like this speaks masses to people ''luggage'' for your valuables such as ipads, iphones, laptops and e-reader devices is a huge and every-growing business. It's a wonderful place for innvation and to show people that just because your taking your internet life on the go, that it cant be safe. This goes beyond a simply anti virus or firewall but to those around you, whose to say the person sitting next to you on the train with a full view of your ipad screen isnt the person your interviewing for a job in 3 hours time? Or the person who has a greivence against your company?
Privacy is something people are finding more and more difficult, its not longer just a case of people updating their facebook status to say ''in the Co-op in Great Yarmouth'' and giving away their location, its facebooks ability to ''sign you in'' to specific locations and to share your likes and interests with advertisers and marketing executives that make privacy so difficult to come across in a world that seems to get smaller by the day.
